If you ever missed a chance to watch the ongoing series these past couple of months, here is a recap and why you shouldn’t miss the next STRIDE! At the start of EYO’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, the committee set out to highlight the impact of the ministry through it’s alumni via webinars.Since June 2020, the series of webinars have focused on the Seven Pillars of society: Government, Business, Education, Family, Religion, Media, and Arts & Entertainment. Think of any profession and you’ll find a connection to one or more of these pillars. It’s pretty amazing. So we thought we needed to talk about them and learn how believers can live and work more purposefully.  Power-Packed Panelists Without any particular order, we decided to begin the series with Governance and Leadership – most probably because leadership actually affects all the other pillars. We had amazing panelists – all alumni of EYO – who set the ball rolling with such passion and enthusiasm. Dr. Zanetor Rawlings (MP of Klottey Korle Constituency in Accra), Dr. Esi Ansah (Leadership Coach) and Pastor Patrick Abbah-Dakou (Banking Consultant) delivered thought-provoking insights on governance and leadership. You can catch more of that discussion here. Our next discussion was with the panelists Mr. Kwadwo Adjabeng, Mr. Nelson Amo, and Mrs. Ivy Aidoo, who dissected the Pillar of Business. The rich personal experiences of the panelists in the area of business made the discussion feel almost too short after the session ended. Here is the link to watch this discussion. The Pillar of Education happened next with Dr. Daniel Opoku (Lecturer, KNUST), Dr. Yvonne Lamptey (Lecturer, University of Ghana), and Mrs. Linda Ghartey (Tutor, US and UK curricular). When we thought we’d seen passion from the previous sessions, we experienced another level of it in this fiery discussion, where Education system in Ghana and Africa was compared to the West, and was complimented rather than condemned. Find more here. The following webinars were Family, Religion, and Media respectively. These sessions brought forth some of the panelists who made STRIDE a worthwhile endeavor by the anniversary committee. Among them were Pastor Adeline Mensah (Agape House Church), Dr. Nana Esi Tetteh (Medical Doctor and Child Development Expert), Pastor KK Baidoo (Teens Aloud Foundation), Mr. Bernard Avle (Citi TV), and more. Apart from the wonderful panelists, we also had really cool moderators who made the discussion exciting and worth the time. Inspiring Lessons and Quotes from Panelists “Personal integrity is key for effective leadership” – Dr. Rawlings on Governance. “As the pastor has his congregation to preach to every Sunday, so do I have my students from Monday to Friday” – Mrs. Ghartey. “For a media personality, your credibility comes from your consistency” – Bernard Avle “The family is a reflection of God hence it will never lose its relevance in the society.” – Pastor Adeline Mensah “A man needs to be matured in his parents’ home before he leaves to go and cleave to his wife and start a family” – Dr. Nana Esi Gaisie-Tetteh. “Submission by women in marriage actually elevates their voice in the family” – Dr. Kafui Senya “You’re not a Christian in church; you’re a Christian in the world” – Bernard Avle “God has given believers the mandate to spread the gospel and every generation has different ways of fulfilling the Great Commission. The media is an extremely powerful tool and if believers can use this power well, we can reach many more people” – Mrs. Daisy Nartey “Paul, Peter, James [the Apostles] will not forgive us if we fail to use the media to advance the mandate given us” – Dr. Yvonne Woyome. The last session on the Seven Pillars of Society happened on Sunday, 22nd November at 17:00 GMT. It was on the Pillar of Arts, Sports and Entertainment. It’s interesting how we wrapped up on the most exciting pillar. Among other things, we discussed how many big artists started in the church but ended up in the secular industry. Catch that final episode on our youtube channel here.
